Who knew seeing HENRI MATISSE's The Cut-Outs while studying abroad in college, would come back to be such an influence on my own work, many years later. To think I purchased the poster of this work "The Parakeet and the Mermaid" in Paris and carried it back to Florence, where I was studying, and then home to the States.
Many years later, when my interest in learning 3D drawing on the computer peaked, I kept staring at this poster and daydreaming about Matisse's shapes. It turned out to influence every project designed as I studied. Eventually, I decided to have some of my designs 3D printed in a lightweight, durable nylon in the Netherlands.
My heart spun with happiness when I saw the first printed CORAL hoops and so this series began.
